A Bit About Who We Are

The Lesser Slave Lake Regional Arts Council was founded in September of 2010. The council was originally created to host a children’s art camp during the summer, however, ladies night art events were also hosted throughout the year. In the fall of 2017 a new board was created. Since then we’ve worked hard to branch out and host different types of events and bring in artists from around the province. We have recently teamed up with Nate Batt from Atomic360Media to build a brand new website, which you are currently looking at! We have some great ideas for the future and we want to be apart of our community for years to come by doing bigger projects that involve the youth and children of our community. We continue to host our Young@Art Camp every third and fourth week of July.

    President
Hi, my name is Megan McNeil and I have been with Lesser Slave Lake Regional Arts Council since 2016. I started out as the Secretary then in 2018 I became the President. I joined the council because I believe in making a difference in peoples lives using the arts as a great outlet for people to express themselves. My favourite medium is photography and sewing; I love photography because it’s a great way to capture the moment.

      Treasurer
Hi, my name is Mercedes Berger and I have been the Treasurer on the Lesser Slave Lake Regional Arts Council since December 2017. I joined the council because I strongly believe that creativity creates positivity and a healthy lifestyle. My favourite artist is Edward Burtynsky because he displays industrial landscapes in a way that we don't typically see - with beauty and a shock factor.

        Secretary
Hi, my name is Tanya Keeping and I have been the Secretary of the Lesser Slave Lake Regional Arts Council since November 2019 after I started on the Board of Directors in December of 2018. I joined the council because I believe art is a great form of self expression; it encourages creative thinking and provides a sense of accomplishment. One of my favourite artist is considered a founder of abstract art, Mr Wassily Kandinsky. His vivid interpretation of color through music and spirituality altered the artistic landscape at the start of the 20th century.

          Board of Directors
Hi, my name is Carol Maitland and I joined the Board of Directors of the Lesser Slave Lake Regional Arts Council in February of 2019.  I joined the council to help bring different art experiences to the citizens of Lesser Slave Lake. I enjoy working doing acrylic paint pouring and ink drawings. My favourite artists are people of all ages experiencing new creative activities and having fun doing the art.
